Welcome to our new North Island Blog 2012

Welcome to North Island Physical Therapy and our New Blog space.

Everyone at North Island would like to wish you a Happy & Healthy New Year for 2012!!

We believe that wellness originates in our attitudes, our choices and our actions.  It is my philosophy the every individual has the potential to achieve a pain-free life once they commit to personal wellness.

In this New Year of 2012, I want to remind you that the potential for you to have and extraordinary year including attaining your desired level health & wellness is unlimited.

Now, as you sit here and read this, you may be in pain whether it is from a recent injury or a chronic problem and say, “I just don’t see that happening any time soon”, or “It’s been a long time since I have felt good about myself”.

Well, being a Physical Therapist and a person that has sustained and rehabilitated from severe injuries resulting from a car accident, I would like to tell you that YOU CAN DO IT!  You can achieve anything that you set your mind to.

One of the primary keys to improving your Health & Wellness is to SET GOALS.

Set goals for where you will be with respect to your Health & Wellness.  We need to set goals because without goals we lack direction and without direction we lack focus.  The focus that allows us to achieve the goals that we set for ourselves.  There are a few rules that will help you when you set your goals for Health & Wellness.

Rules for Setting Health & Wellness Goals:

  • Set specific goals:  Remember, specific (Not, I’d “like” to lose weight this year).  Some days, mights and maybes don’t count.  Use specific measurable quantities so that you can see your progress.
  • Set a Time table
  • Write down your goals:  Many people have New Year’s Resolutions but never write them down and they have a tendency to stay wishes that float away.
  • Write your goals in the present tense as if they have already happened.  This allows you to focus on the actions that will help you attain your goals.  You are much more likely to reach your goals if you write them down.
  • Visualize yourself achieving your goals
  • Plan out what will it will take to reach your goals.
  • Take action!  Start by doing small tasks or activities that will get you closer to your goal.

Whether you are recovering from and injury, have chronic pain or trying to improve your overall health & wellness, setting goals is the key to getting you to your desired level of fitness.  Start out 2012 by setting your goals for your Health & Wellness and writing them down.  Your will be on your way.

If this is your first time on our website, feel free to explore and see how we may help you reach your health & wellness goals.

Wishing you a Happy & Healthy New Year.  Be Well
